Making the right choice for your Safe Self Storage unit
The first thing you need to do is estimate how much space you will need for what you have to store.
It can be a guessing game if you don’t have any direction. So we have created some simple steps to help you make a determination of the right sized storage unit.
Step 1: You begin by having a list of all the material and items you need to store.
Step 2: Get a sense of item category by listing your items in groups. This will provide you with the necessary information to plan how you will pack your items and where you will need to place them in the storage unit.
- Packing fragile items in boxes.
- Keeping items in front that you need frequent or early access to.
- Putting heavier boxes lower in the stacking order.
- Leaving the large, or awkward sized items aside so they can be stacked on top of the neat boxes, or put in a corner.
Step 3: Make a list of all you store, mark all your boxes with the contents listed on the side. Keep your list at home and a copy in the storage unit.
There are several basic sizes of storage units. Below is a reference guide to what is available at our Safe Self Storage facility:
A set of smallish furniture: chest of drawers, twin size bed, 10 large boxes boxes and a bicycle.
Large Walk-in Closet
The contents of a one bedroom apartment including appliances such as a refrigerator or a washer and dryer, plus boxes and small items
The contents of a 2 to 3 bedroom apartment/house including major appliances. You may also store a car or truck in this unit.
