At Safe Self Storage we are committed to protecting the privacy and security of personal information obtained by reason of our customer relationships. As such, our Policies and Procedures have been designed to comply with the Personal Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Personal information will only be used and disclosed for the identified purposes for which it was collected. If the personal information is to be used or disclosed for any other purpose, written consent of the individual will be required.

Ten Privacy Principles:

1. Accountability; our organization is responsible for personal information under its control and must have a designated individual responsible for compliance.
2. Identifying purposes; the purposes for which we collect personal information.
3. Consent; must be obtained prior to collecting, using or disclosing personal information.
4. Limiting collection; personal information can only be collected for purpose identified.
5. Limiting use; information can only be used for the purpose it was collected.
6. Accuracy; information must be accurate and up to date.
7. Safeguards; personal information must be protected.
8. Openness; an individual has the right to be informed of the existence, use and disclosure of their personal information.
9. Individual access; an organization has 30 days to respond to an individuals request for access to their personal information.
10. Challenging compliance; an individual has the right to file a challenge with an organization that is not complying with the Act or its own privacy policies.

The basic premise is that knowledge and consent of the individual are required before personal information about that individual may be collected, used or disclosed.

Our organization must remain compliant under the privacy act.

This act applies to all Canadian Businesses; including non-profits and charities.
